This way, the object is turned into an image of itself. This is particularly true with living objects as well as those that are likely to perish like fruit or human beings. Alexa Meade's painting style, that is extremely ephemeral nature, is apparent. The only piece of Alexa's art that survives is her photograph. As the photographic and painting techniques are synchronized so tightly, the end result is a trompe l'oeil effect, where the illusion of 3D is only visible at certain points, such as the region around the eyes or hair. At times, Meade integrates her painted models with the 3-dimensional space around them, allowing the models to be part of the self-created universe. The lines between performance, photography, and installation are thus dissolved.
